One Thing Leads to Another and a Little Blue Chair

Thanks to Steph over at The Silly Pearl for filling my afternoon with cleaning and reorganization!  Let me explain . . .  I saw this adorable message board she made using vintage spools and buttons from an old sewing box she snagged.   That reminded me that I have two vintage sewing boxes of my own.
This one belonged to my Aunt's Mother-in-Law

This one belonged to my Grandma

That thought led me to think I should get them out and display them and that a good spot would be my sewing/stamping room.  THAT led me to realize that the room was an absolute disaster area.  Can't believe I'm posting these pictures!

So that one little bulletin board that Steph created led me to an entire afternoon of cleaning, organizing, rearranging and finally . . .

a fairly clean, organized work space!  I bought an over-the-door shoe organizer for all of my spray paints, brushes, etc. I'd like to add some decorative touches, accent lamps, etc. but that's another project for another day.

So what's the "Little Blue Chair"?

Here she is . . . isn't she adorable?! I've been looking and looking for a chair to paint and put on my front porch (which is currently a VERY sad looking place!).

I found this little gal at our local thrift store today wearing a $10.00 price/name tag but all furniture was half off!  I thought it was amusing they put "blue chair" on the tag.  And believe it or not . . . this is one comfy chair even without a cushion (which I may add when she's finished).  Now it's time for a nice hot cup of tea.  Happy weekend everyone!

  1. from a very 'craft-impaired' woman, I love seeing your posts. I always enjoyed your crafts back in the day at MOPS and the fact that you made us all feel like we 'could do it, too!'

when the title of your post mentioned organizing, I knew I had to read it! I absolutely LOVE organizing things! it just makes my heart happy!! I found the over the door shoe organizer (I think at Meijer?) made out of heavy-duty canvas. I bought 2: one for hats and gloves, and the other for organizing my cleaning rags!

my favorite room in our current house is the crawl space - believe it or not! it is carpeted, lighted, heated and has shelves. an organizer's dream :)

p.s. I still pray for you every time I clean my toilet - lol!

  5. That is a cool message board, Lauren! What a great gift to make for someone who loves to sew. I love your idea of the shoe organizer to hold spray paint! It keeps it organized and neat. I may have to "borrow" that idea!

  9. Your room turned out great...I have to say you are incredibly brave to show what it looked like before your transformation! I don't have the nerve to show my sewing room...thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment about my porch. To answer your question about the rain...I just don't worry about it. It bothers my husband more than me. He goes out there and lowers the blinds if we are expecting rain. They do help some. Things do get a little wet, but it always dries out and the ceiling fan helps. I have never had any mildew smell which is good. I decided that to enjoy it I needed to actually make it livable...without investing in pricey windows. In my dreams, I'd like to turn that room into a laundry/mud room anyway. Oh well...have a great week! Nice to meet you...your blog is very cute. ~Ann
