It's been a difficult month with the passing of my mom. Just when I thought I was getting back into a 'groove', we had to suddenly put our little 8-year old Cocker Spaniel, Ava down on Sunday.
Ava had something called Hemangiosarcoma. It is a tumor that usually affects the liver or spleen. Hers was on her spleen. There usually are no signs anything is wrong until the tumor ruptures and causes, in some cases, instant death. Ava became ill in a matter of hours and by the time I rushed her to emergency, it was apparent she was barely alive. We were able to hold her and be with her until the end. I'm so, so sad.
If you have pets, you know how attached we become to them and how quickly they become a part of the 'landscape.
It's just a bit overwhelming right now so I'll take a little time off. I'll be visiting your blogs as much as I can and look forward to returning when I'm feeling up to it.
Thank you dear friends for understanding.
So sorry about your fur baby - she is very pretty in this picture. Take all of the time off you need, of course!
ReplyDeleteSweet angel, my sympathies. Losing your beloved mama and then your precious pet is an awful lot to handle. Take this time to regain your bearings. But know that you are missed and loved.
ReplyDeleteOf course we understand! Any of us who have had pets know what a huge gaping hole they leave in your life. I'm so sorry Lauren...words are not enough, I know.
ReplyDeleteDear sweet Lauren, your Ava was a little doll. I do think it's much worse losing a pet (or a person for that matter) when we have a little time to get used to the idea when they are sick. When it happens suddenly like that, we have no time to even anticipate the loss. Hugs & prayers continue to go out to you, sweet friend. ♥
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the little dog, I understand how difficult this is and especially after the loss of your Mum. I hope you recover quickly I could not leave your blog without wishing you a better month to come

ReplyDeleteOh, Lauren, this hurts my heart for you. Ava was just adorable! My brother and his wife just had to put their Goldendoodle down after 12 years and it has been such a difficult time for them. These pets can be such a part of our lives. Bless you Lauren as you face two really big adjustments in your daily life. Hugs!

ReplyDeleteOh my Lauren, I am so sad to read this post of your beloved Ava. You take all the time you need for a break. You have been through so much. Thank you for sharing the picture of your sweet cocker spaniel. We had a cocker when our four kids were growing up, and yes they become part of your family. Prayers will continue for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. First, your mom and now your pet. Take your time.

ReplyDeleteThose sudden ends are so very, very hard. The house seems so quiet and so lost after. I send you big hugs as you cope with this double dose of important loss.

Oh my! Such sadness! I do know how it feels to lose a sweet dog because they are part of your "landscape" as you said, they are with you throughout the humdrum of daily routines, and they are just a constant source of comfort. I'm so so sorry sweet friend! Two big losses so close together is just so hard! Praying for you sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry for the loss of your beloved Ava.
ReplyDeleteBless your heart...I am on a semi-blog break, too. I seem to drift in and out. With my sweetheart of over 58 yrs passing away last July and then my daughter's father in law passing in Feb, it's all so overwhelming. We have to take our time and get back to blogging when we want. Sure sorry about your little dog.....
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Ava, Lauren. Yes, pets soon become part of our families. You have had sorrowful times this month, and I am sending much love your way.
