I took a short break from the blog while we went on our annual trip to St. Simons Island, GA. This year, our twin girls joined us -- that meant lots of laughs and craziness!
No pics of hubby this year -- he was sick in bed for at least half of the trip! But us ladies "soldiered on"!
I was the only one who got up several mornings to catch the sunrise.
We had quite a few days with very large waves which made for some amazing visits to the beach.

I was totally geeked out one day to find a pelican on the pier so close you could almost touch him! I've never seen one that close. Unfortunately all I had was my phone so the pictures aren't that great. Then he was joined by some seagulls -- it was beautiful!
Do you know what these are? They're called Purple Beautyberry - aren't they stunning!? They were hanging on these bushes like clusters of grapes. On day five hubby was well enough to join us on a 10 mile bike ride on Jekyll Island. We came upon these and my daughter googled to see what they were. SUPPOSEDLY they are edible but we didn't want to take a chance!
So now I'm back and trying to get caught up on work, laundry and getting used to dreary, rainy, cold Chicago! But that also means it's time to announce the two winners of the Rust-Oleum Chalked paint.
The first winner is Cecelia from My Thrift Store Addiction.
The second winner is Kathleen Rupp from Everything Karupped!
Congratulations ladies!
Looks like a gorgeous place! So glad that your girls got to go along. Also glad that your hubby felt better and was able to join in on the bike ride. Those purple berries are gorgeous! Congrats to the winners.

What a fun family vacation! You captured some lovely beach images. I'm loving the gorgeous hue of the purple beautyberry.
ReplyDeleteLove the Pelican picture, that's our state bird here in Louisiana. All the pictures are great and looks like a fun trip. Sorry your Hubby was down for the majority of it. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteLauren, I didn't know you had twins. I'm glad you got to spend time with them, and this is a sweet picture of all of you. What a striking picture of the berries. I wonder what they taste like? Oh my, that pelican fellow did get close to you. They fascinate me, and sometimes I see them when I visit Jess, as she lives only 5 minutes from the ocean. : )
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners of the giveaway.

Congratulations to the two winners!!! And, so happy you had a wonderful time away. It is hard to get back in the swing of things when you get back home. :( God bless you, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteLove the Georgia Coast! Makes me want to go.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Too bad about your hubby being sick in bed on vacation, Lauren, but I'm glad you and your darling twins "soldiered on"! At least your hubby enjoyed part of the trip.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners of the spray chalk paint!!
Lauren, It looks like you had a wonderful time-but I am sorry your hubby was sick for part of the trip. That is never fun. I think you girls did a great job of 'soldiering on'.
ReplyDeleteI saw those beautyberries for the first time a couple of years ago and was amazed by them. They are just so pretty.
Hope you don't have 'back-to-reality-blues' now that you are home. That hits me sometimes....lol xo Diana
Beautiful photos...and YES, early morning walks on the beach are the best. And right away I recognized the Beautyberries...my son in TN has them growing right in his backyard! They are SO lovely. So glad you had a nice vacation!
ReplyDeleteLauren, your girls are beautiful and what lovely photos! Sounds like a wonderful vacation! Guess what? I received my Chalked paint yesterday and I'm using it today. Loving it and will be sharing on my blog soon! Thanks so much for the giveaway, Friend!
