I know you're thinking this is an unusual looking post. Well it was an unusual week. Four days before my son's wedding this past Sunday, my husband had a heart attack. It was the first time in my life I ever used 911. I won't bore you all with lots of details but suffice it to say that we are awed and amazed by how the Lord has worked in our lives especially this week! The doctors said it is a miracle that my husband survived. After many 'ups and downs' in the hospital, Matt was released in time to officiate at our son's wedding! Outdoor wedding, high temps and humidity meant he would share the ceremony with a good friend of our son and daughter-in-law's who is a pastor. So with a 'tag team' effort they both officiated with Matt being given a stool to sit on for his part. I had a lot of plans for this weekend.
I had lists, diagrams, charts, pictures . . . all waiting to be fulfilled. But God had other plans -- HIS plans. What a comfort it was and is to know that none of this took HIM by surprise. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." So while I had planned to post lots of wedding pictures today, I have none to post because I didn't take a single one! My dear friend (and my son's new mother-in-law!) sent me this picture last night. I can hardly look at it without crying because while I'm sure the wedding pictures are going to be beautiful, THIS is probably the most beautiful to me because I'm sitting and watching our son get married with my husband next to me.

I must agree too - It's an awesome picture : The best thing in life are those beside you and with you - and that what really matter!

ReplyDeleteWow...powerful post. I'm so glad all is well now.
ReplyDeleteOh my cold chills.. so glad this was a blessed event in so many ways. The Lord is good.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a picture that says so more than it seems at first glance. Thank you for sharing your story :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those pictures that would have been just-another-picture if not for the REAL meaning of it. Sometimes we worry so much about the little things (flowers on time, just right ribbons, will aunt Pat wear that dress AGAIN, can we sit him next to her....) that we forget the truely important things: being here to celebrate love together.
ReplyDeleterejoicing with you...so thankful that all is well and you are all celebrating love!

ReplyDeleteOh, my, Lauren! I'm so thankful he's okay - PTL!
ReplyDeletePraise God that your husband recovered and could share in your son's special day. Please tell him to take extra good care of himself and to follow doctor's orders and take all his meds. My dear husband also had a heart attack and it is scary stuff. We are both blessed to have our life partners with us still.
ReplyDeleteGod is good!
ReplyDeleteI love that you said God wasn't surprised by the events of the week. That's a great way to look at it. I am so glad he is okay and that he was able to officiate. That had to make the blessed event an even happier one.
