In between blogging and opening my Etsy shop, I've also been 'knee-deep' in preparations for my son's upcoming wedding in three weeks. They are having a "book-themed" wedding so I decided to continue that theme with the gift card box. Using four cupboard doors from the ReStore (1.00 each), some old book pages and a few other supplies, it pretty much turned out the way I imagined.
Once I got the doors painted and distressed to my liking, attached together with L-brackets and wood glue, I added the lid which is an actual book with the pages removed and the back cover cut to allow the cards to be dropped in.
I used scrapbooking paper to cover the book and added a wooden knob, some ribbon and their names on a formica chip sample.
Using some netting I had, I created a 'liner' which adds a nice touch I think.
I used some old books I had to cover the sides and found some cute little poems, etc. to add. My son is studying to be a Theoretical Physicist (which I KNOW is not a Chemist but they're both 'sciences' . . . that much I know :) and my future daughter-in-law is an English major so I found these amusing and slightly relevant! I have so many projects I've completed and some still in process for the wedding so you'll probably be seeing more of those soon.

Very creative and unique Lauren. Love to see what else you come up with.
